Life can be rough. Things can get weird, real weird (and not in the cool, fun way). The pressures of society telling us what we “should” look like, what goals we “should” strive for, and who we “should” be can become frustrating, isolating, and all of the ugh things. Reaching out for support can be overwhelming itself, and I’m so glad you’re considering your options. I strive to meet you where you’re at; you are the expert of your own life and I’d be honored to walk beside you along your healing journey. Let’s shift the focus from the “should” and refocus on who you uniquely want to be.
I approach therapy from a warm, supportive, and casual tone, with a bit of humor sprinkled in. I blend person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths based approaches to help you along your journey. I am versed in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which I utilized within my work as a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. I also have a background in nutrition and dietetics, which allows me to provide a holistic approach to therapy.
I work with individuals who experience challenges around anxiety, grief/loss, those who have loved ones struggling with substance use concerns, individuals in long term recovery, and adults questioning or diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My particular area of passion is helping individuals work through trauma, specifically through an attachment based lens. I believe that our past influences our present; that our lived experiences affect how we feel about ourselves, others, and the world as a whole. To help heal from these types of concerns I have been trained in a variety of approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I’m also expanding my focus to include those who are facing infertility, perinatal difficulties, pregnancy/birth trauma, and overall maternal mental health.
In order to provide you with the best possible care and support I take time for self-care by exploring Minnesota with my husband and our two dogs. I practice yoga, play video games, and hike to help me recharge. I also enjoy watching comfort 90’s shows, as well as debating how early is too early to put up Halloween decorations.
