Feeling overwhelmed? Struggling to identify a positive sense of self? You are not alone. I believe in building an authentic and trusting therapeutic relationship, where you’re the expert on your own journey. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to explore and work towards positive change through patience, authenticity, and humor.
Within my person-centered, strengths based approach to therapy I apply principles of talk therapy and evidence-based modalities including motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy to help you in your life’s journey.
I’ve worked with diverse populations and have a background in nutrition/dietetics as well as substance abuse counseling, both which have provided me with experiences that I incorporate within my mental health counseling. I enhance identifying and addressing body image and self-esteem concerns by incorporating concepts from both nutritional and mental health perspectives. I also have a passion for providing support for those who have loved ones struggling with substance use concerns.
Additionally, I have experience working with disordered eating, traumatic experiences, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and those who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community. I would also like to expand my therapeutic experience to those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
In order to provide you with the best possible care and support I take time for self-care by exploring Minnesota with my partner and our two dogs as well as spending time with family and friends. I practice yoga and bake to help recharge my sense of independent self.
If you think I’d be a good support for you on your life’s journey, please contact me at amanda.vestal@vaydamentalhealth.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
